• What if I need to book travel
My husband and I are also referring travel agents. If you would go to specialdestination.com on the internet and click on “Book Travel”,you will get the best prices with travelocity.com for airlines, hotels, rental cars and entertainment. If you need help, give me a call.

• How do I get to North Captiva
North Captiva is about 10 miles off the mainland from Pine Island. From Southwest Florida International Airport, it’s about an hour’s trip. Reservations for ground and water taxi are necessary. See our list of important phone numbers for contacts. Airport taxi will pick you up, pick up your grocery order that you’ve faxed in, and take you to Pineland Marina where the water taxi will take you to North Captiva. Ground taxi will run approx. $70. To $75. for 2 people and water fares average $35.00 per person round trip. For driving instructions please contact me at rustyandmarcia@msn.com and I will e-mail instructions. Once you arrive on the island, you will be met by our greeters, North Captiva Island Club, who will take you to our home, help with the luggage and give you a map of the island and keys to your golf cart.

• Where can I buy groceries
There are Publix supermarkets on your way from the airport or if your driving, on your way from I-75. See our list of important phone numbers. If you would like to fax your order in ahead of time, they require 48 hrs notice. Your taxi will stop on the way to the marina so you may pick up your order. Your cold items will be packed in styrofoam. There is an island market on the island for essentials that you may have forgotten or run out of while on the island.

• What supplies are included in our rental
Our homes are completely equipped in the kitchen with microwave, stove, oven, dishwasher, coffee pot etc. We have a gas BarBQ grill for grilling. All your paper products (paper towels, toilet paper, tissue) are included. All linens, beach towels, bath towels, beach chairs are there. We also supply dishwasher detergent, washing machine soap and personal soap. Our homes are equipped with DVD players, CD players, and VCR. We have a large assortment of DVD movies, some for children and some for the whole family.

• Are there restaurants and shopping on the island
There are 2 restaurants on North Captiva. One is Barnacle Phil’s and they are well known for their Black Beans and Yellow Rice. They also make a great hamburger and grouper sandwiches. The other is Boathouse Restaurant, this is a private restaurant for Island Club members and guests. You are a guest, since we are members so give them a try. They serve more of a gourmet style menu. The island club also has a pool bar where you can order sandwiches and drinks. The Island Market is adjacent to the club and has convenience items along with a deli for pizza’s and subs. We have an ice cream store called “Crabby Annie's” next to Barnacle Phil’s and a boutique with island souvenirs above Barnacle Phils.

• What is North Captiva Island Club
We are members of North Captiva Island Club, which gives you club privileges. When you arrive at the Island Club, go to the office and sign in as our guest. They will give you a card pass to use while you’re on island. This gives you full use of the facilities which include 2 pools, spa, sauna room, fitness room, tennis courts, basketball court, volleyball, children’s play-
ground, kayaks, and bicycles. For a fee, they have wave runners, fishing poles and boats, check at the office for this information.

• What other activities are there to do
Fishing, shelling, walk the beach, swimming, charter boat fishing, island Hopping, bird watching, dolphin watching and just relaxing on a hammock.

• What if I have an emergency
We have a full-fledged fire department on the island with trained people for fire and medical emergencies. Call 911 and you will have immediate service. If the need be to be transported to a hospital, we have medivac helicopters that will be on the island very quickly.

• Who do I call for service and repairs
Your greeters, North Captiva Island Club, are on island and if you have any problems, you may call them at 239-395-1000 or I always have my cell phone with me 239-633-5664.
